The Transformation of a neighborhood : Ransom Place Historic District, Indianapolis, 1900-1920 1995.

Carolyn M. Brady's Masters thesis in Public History from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. The thesis explores the demographic trends of Ransom Place, a six-block area in Indianapolis, Ind. From 1900 to 1920, the population shifted from 86 percent white to 96 percent black. Ransom Place was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It was named after Freeman B. Ransom, a business manager of the Madame C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company.
